i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, checked my storage, restarted my router. But it still says cannot download, it gets to about 10% and then stops each time, i would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on the situation.

Have you tried completely powering off your console and running the install again? Hopefully that should clear it up, however if you do continue to have issues I would try a full Console Reset by following the instructions at http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/restore_setting.html and that should clear this up for you.

i tried the instructions, but i am still met with the same message when trying to download the update, i can download any other application so i know that it is not just my internet

I'm having a somewhat similar issue. I've tried playing Overwatch since yesterday, and I keep getting told to go to the Download section to check the progress on an update that is downloading, only thing is there's no update for Overwatch downloading, nothing.

Sometimes, if powering down and doing full console resets don't work, one usually has to fully uninstall and reinstall the game to resolve. PS4 is funny like this.

At this point if powercycling, uninstall/reinstalling and resetting your console to factory defaults did not help you may need to contact Sony for assistance >_<.

i contacted playstation support and after some time trying different things out they told me to contact you guys

The only other thing that we haven't tried that I can think of would be a complete Reinitialization of the PS4 itself which would wipe all data from the PS4 so I'm hesitant to try that.
Have you made sure your PS4 is running the 4.71 update?

yes i just installed it today

I hate to say it but I would follow up with Sony, I'm not aware of any issues with the update itself and with consoles there is not much we can do. Like I mentioned the only other thing I can think of is a full initialization but I would definitely speak to Sony to see if there were any other options before going that route.

well thanks for the help, it's really too bad, that was the only game i actually enjoyed playing.

Don't delete it yet, in my case it was just the space which apparently was not enough to install the update. I had 45 gigs left and after deleting a whole game worth about 48 gigs, it started to download.

i have 150 gigs left... i don't think it is a matter of space, plus i just initialized it and still does not work, it's like someone is preventing me from doing it, i also can't access http://www.playoverwatch.com and specifically that website only. If there is some reason i am being purposefully blocked from playing the game and accessing the website i sure would like to know why

That almost sounds like a DNS issue, you should not have any issues accessing that website. You may want to try to switch your console to Google DNS https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

I was having the same problem till i deleted some of my apps. Now everything just started downloading.

I have also had issues with the 2.17 patch..I just recently bought the game and I have tried connecting to ethernet, deleting and re-installing, changing my DNS, making more room (300g free), manual reset of the download, wifi, standing on one foot while spinning around...everything..I have yet to be able to play the game due to this =( Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated =)

Nearly a month since last post, but I also got this issue today. Last month I had to uninstall the game completely to be able to get the upgrade, and today I got the same issue...not a disk space issue, as I got more than enough...other games upgrade without any problem at all !
